Great Moments in Summer 2015 Anime

Standard

Summer is over, and that means no more lazy days for some of us (yeah, I know). But before I start preparing for other things including the Fall anime season, let’s revisit some of the moments that came from a handful of anime from this past season.

This highlight review’s theme is Hero, thanks to this season’s Ushio and Tora.

Obligatory disclaimer: these are the great moments of the season, not necessarily the greatest moments of the season. These moments come from a limited list of things that I watched and does not include everything that aired in Summer 2015. You can find all of these anime and more on Crunchyroll.

And as always, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!

Summer is over, and that means no more lazy days for some of us (awww). But before I start preparing for other things including the Fall anime season, let’s revisit some of the moments that came from a handful of anime from this past season.

Anime Review: Re-Kan!

Standard

Ghosts: we are fascinated by these supernatural phenomena. And whether or not we believe that such spirits exist, they have been known to haunt us through all kinds of narratives. But for every ghost story that ends in horrifying suspense that makes you sleep with one eye open, a high school girl who can communicate with these spirits is here to rewrite everything we know about them. For when we scream and run away from ghosts, Hibiki Amami is here to make friends with them.

And so, we are here to enter the daily life of a girl with a sixth-sense and all of her friends, be it human or supernatural.

Yamada-kun

Unless you have blue hair and indiscriminately kiss people, this is NOT your harem, Yamada-kun!

Anime Review: Momo Kyun Sword

Standard

Once upon a time, there was an old man and an old woman who wanted a child of their own. One day, a giant peach from up the river came to the couple. When the old man opened the peach, out popped a boy. The couple named him Momotaro (Peach Boy) and raised him as their own son.

Blah blah, goes on a quest, yadda yadda, joined by a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant, things happen, and Momotaro becomes the hero of the village by driving away the oni. It’s a famous tale of heroism in Japanese folklore, but let’s face it: this anime isn’t an adaptation of THAT story! And while Momotaro is a boy born from a peach, Momoko is a girl who grew two peaches of her own!

Companions

Don’t get too surprised. There are plenty of breast jokes to be had!

Anime Review: Joker

Standard

I have to admit: most of the stuff I review is for teenagers and adults. This time however, the series is actually marketed for young children. And for me, it was a very entertaining watch that also taught me a few things about what’s really important in life.

But let’s face it: the people reading my blog probably couldn’t care less about my thoughts on this show as if I were a child. So instead, I will attempt to convince you to watch this show with your children (or nieces and nephews), because to me, this is a show for family.

Oh come on! I haven’t even started yet!
